So this is an article about food security and probably american in context but i like feeling like i know what [i should be] doing so lets see.

This was posted on the 10th of April, which was during the disasterous 2-week deadline ceasefire something or other. 9 days later the strait is still closed and not much has changed!

So the main thing is that it is currently planting season, and the third of the world’s fertiliser that usually goes through the Strait of Hormuz is currently not doing that. Lots of countries depend on this fertiliser, and right now is the time you need it. Hmm. That’s not good.

it is, indeed, giving february 2020.

Preparing for the bumps along the way to something better (fingers crosseddddd)… Gramsci style innit. People and community more important than bunkers or compounds.

Basically, have a few weeks’ worth food, water and other supplies kept somewhere safe in your home. Have a go bag with fewer supplies, and your passport and other important documents. Be in touch with your neighbours. Don’t freak out. You can’t control for everything. That’s about it.

In a true disaster you will have to borrow and share, which is good! It builds networks and means you will be okay even though you forgot to buy extra cooking oil.

Hoarding: don’t do it. Good point that it is an intentional poor distribution of food that got us into this mess, so don’t copy that innit.

Work out what disasters/problems are most likely to you, locally. You survived a pandemic, what have you learned from that? (human connection is the single most valuble thing we can get out of the world)

Yeah okay that was chill. Fair enuf!
