It is embarassing to admit but I would like to make money, primarily so I can afford to work less! Most of these tips also apply to asking to go part time rather than asking for a raise or promotion.

This article is written well and doesn’t make me want to cry whilst reading it.

Okay so the tips are: 1. Nobody wants to do work, so use this to your advantage. Work out what your manager really wants (somebody who keeps out the way and does decent to good quality work, most of the time) and do that. If you’re asking for something, work out what the person you’re asking wants and explain how you fit into that. If internal, snoop around! Find out who is on their team, is anyone leaving soon, &c.. 2. Be the most prepared person in the room, or at least a bit more prepared. Most academics are usually well-prepared, but you should definitely go into every meeting knowing what is meant to happen and having thought about it for at least 5 minutes first. 3. Make your work visible or it doesn’t exist. Keep a list. 4. Do things fast, becuase doing it in two hours rather than two days seems disproportionaly competent. Don’t be a perfectionist, nobody needs that. 5. Keep track of your achievements. 6. Be likeable as if your fucking life depends on it!! 7. Become a person that is annoying to lose. If they are thinking “what happens if we lose them”… it is much easier to convince them to keep you. 8. Ask for things

Ugh okay that’s my one boring productivity-bro article for a while!
